FAQ

  • Are the pens actually made with real cards?

Yes! We’ve been avid Pokemon card collectors since the TCG started, which led to us having a stockpile of extra cards.
Each pen starts out as a card, which we then encase in epoxy resin to preserve the card. Then the resin is turned down on a lathe into the desired shape and polished until you have the final product!

  • Can you use ANY trading card?

Yes! So far, we have not found a TCG that doesn’t work in our process. This includes many of the popular TCGs like Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Disney Lorcana, Once Piece, Digimon, and Star Wars.

  • Can you use non-trading cards?

It depends on the material that you want to use. We have done playing cards and business cards with no problem, but images that are printed (even on high quality paper) do not hold up in the epoxy resin processing. We are always happy to chat about what you want and see what we can do! We have a few tricks up our sleeves.

  • What kind of pens do you make?

    Our standard pens are either:

    - 0.7 Parker-style refillable ballpoint pen

    - Universal cartridge fountain pens

Looking for a different style of pen? Mechanical pencil? Let us know!

  • How long does it take to make a pen?

On average, it takes around 2 weeks for a pen to go from start to finish. Certain factors can increase or decrease that time as well. If you intend on gifting a custom pen, make sure to give yourself and us ample time to make sure it gets into your hands in time!

  • How durable are these pens?

Fairly durable! We have dropped our fair share of pens onto concrete floors without any issue.

However! If your pen does get a scratch or chip or is otherwise broken, contact us and we are happy to repair it.

  • Can I give you a card to turn into a pen?

Yes! In fact, if you provide the card for your pen, you get a discount off the total cost.

  • Can I donate cards?

Please do! We appreciate any donation of unused/unwanted/extra cards that you have sitting around. Depending on the amount donated, you’ll get a discount off the top of your pen purchase as well.
